Church Fundraisers - Many churches are not doing so well with all of the panic about the economy. While some are holding up fine others are struggling because folk are going into survival mode, not giving like they used to. Fortunately , there are some great ideas out there for you to raise money for your church without putting too much tension on its members. You can have a huge church garage sale where everyone donates unnecessary items and all proceeds are kept by the church. There is always a way.

It is not enough to believe. We have to learn how to put our principles to the test and act in an appropriate way. Nowadays, in the present economy, it appears like it’s easy to slip into self-centered thinking. When things get troublesome we concentrate on ourselves and our families. This is natural, but it is really important that we continue to attempt to contribute in the lives of others. You do not have to spend lots of time or money to contribute. In fact, only a few seconds can make a difference. Perhaps we should all create plans to do something to modify the world every day, or at the very least once every week. There are some great books available that can provide suggestions, and you can come up with your own ideas about the way to help others with only one or two dollars or one or two minutes. The secret’s to concentrate on what you CAN do, not on what you CAN’T do. Are you able to drop by to check on an old neighbor? Are you able to take a couple of minutes to clear a neighbor’s sidewalk of snow? How about taking one or two tissues from home so you can pick up a couple of pieces of trash to ditch on your way to work or school ( the serviettes are so that you don’t get your hands dirty ) ? Are you able to manage a second and one or two additional calories of energy to smile at somebody, hold the door for somebody, or give somebody a compliment? How about a tip and a’Thank you’ for a service person? We might not be in a position to donate millions, but in these times it is more significant than ever to put the emphasis back on giving. It’s easy to think of others when you feel like you have it all. The real test of personality is how we target helping others when times are difficult.

Jesus Had a Budget of $0 - Remember that even though’money makes the world go around’ ( and I do not believe that it is doing ), that does not mean that money is important to change the globe. Jesus wasn’t a millionaire, and he probably did just fine in his efforts to change the world . Cash is only one of many tools that can help you to boost the lives of others. Don’t underestimate the power of a smile, a compliment, a joke, a cuddle, and definitely don’t underestimate the power of a prayer. In these times of misery, disaster, and despair, take the focus off of what you can’t control and put the power back onto what you can control - your own mind and behaviors. Don’t belittle the power that you’ve been given to try a change, no matter how much or how very little happens to be in your account. Spreading Goodwill - It is important to recollect to spread goodwill at each opportunity, and this may be done without making you or your family vulnerable to crime or monetary stress. As well as books on proper religious thinking, books like Pay it Forward, Chicken Soup for the Soul, and Doing Good Works to bring our thinking back around to gratitude, service, and goodwill toward others.

Change the World - if you ever doubt your own ability to switch the world, just glance at the many Biblical and modern examples of folks that came from nothing to be world figures and world changers. Many of them may not have shared our express beliefs, but it they can do it we will do it. Mum Theresa, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr, Gandhi, and varied members of the clergy, the arts, even business ( like Bill Strickland ) should induce us that we can change and improve the world in our own ways no matter how gigantic or how tiny we believe that we are. It’s not for us to decide how our efforts and good intentions will be put to use.

The power of positive thinking is a mind boggling thing. One popular saying is Give without remembering.
