Comparing Term And Whole Life Insurance

September 3rd, 2010
Comments Off

There are many types and variations of life insurance policies. Mostly they have are term insurance or whole life insurance or sometimes a combination of the both.

Universal life insurance allows you to adjust the premium and policy amount to what you feel you need.

For someone who wants to have control over the financial and investing aspect of their insurance, the variable life insurance policy will be the best option.

Description of a Term Life Insurance Policy

The term life insurance policy provides insurance protection for a particular period of time. The term may be extended to 5, 10, or 20 years. When the term ends the policy also expires without any benefits and without any saved or accumulated cash value. But if you die during this term then the death benefit will be paid. The term insurance policy can be said as insurance that is actually designed to expire before you do.?

Usually the premiums on the term insurance are not that big, but as you grow older you will have to pay more. So considering the profits a term life insurance policy is more economical when bought at a younger age along with a longer term. Even though the short term renewable policies are substantially lower when people are young, it will be highly expensive when purchased after middle age.

Below here is an illustrative example which shows the difference of term life insurance policy cost with age.

Age 35: $300/year

$900 / year age 50

Age 65: $2,500/year

Description of a Whole Life Insurance Policy

The most common type of insurance sold in the market today is the whole life insurance policy. A whole life insurance policy is valid till you die or until you reach the age of 100. But it must be taken care that you pay all the premiums as scheduled. Whole life insurance is otherwise known as the permanent insurance. Level premiums, level face amounts, guaranteed values, and a relatively high degree of safety compared to others are the main differential characteristics of a whole life insurance policy. The guaranteed cash value through the whole life insurance builds a huge benefit for the owner. This is very beneficial for the user, because this cash can be accessed during emergencies, and for other needs as well as a alternative source of retirement income.

Whole life insurance includes both insurance and savings: whole life policies are often used in long-term financial planning. The level premiums of whole life policies also mean that the premium will never change. This gives you the peace of mind of always knowing how much your premium will be; it will not increase as you grow older.

There are different risks involved for companies which provide whole life insurance policies and those which offer auto policies, for example. With an auto policy the insurance company hopes the policyholder will be a safe driver and never be in an accident. On the other hand, when an insurance company issues a whole life policy it knows it will someday have to pay the claim.

Shopping for life insurance is now quite simple to do online. You can compare companies and policies to make sure you get the best premiums for the policy that meets your needs. It’s well worth the time to get several quotes, and to see how the companies are rated with the Better Business Bureau. It’s also important to look into the financial standings of the companies you’re considering before you sign up for any type of life insurance policy. If you do your research, you will easily get the best whole life insurance policy online.

Cross Border Shipping Fees For Canada

August 18th, 2010
Comments Off

When dealing with shipping items across the boarder to Canada, a company or individual must realize there is going to be cross border shipping fees they must pay along the way. These are somewhere around a seven percent goods and services tax or G. S. T. No matter what is being shipped into Canada.

In addition to shipping fees for across the boarder, there could be a small freight handling fee that the shipping or transportation broker will charge. This fee will be the same amount for those who are shipping a large amount of items or transporting a small amount of items across the boarder. Therefore, it is in a company that is doing the shipping’s best interest to combine shipments going to the same location whenever possible to save funds.

There should be no ‘hidden fees’ for transportation or shipping, most companies are uncomplicated and tell of their fee structure up front for merchandise crossing the boarder. Cargo and products that cross the boarder into Canada from the Untied States is done daily and there is so much of it that there really is call for hiding charges.

Having the G. S. T. Or goods and service tax explained up front from a trustworthy company that does the shipping will mean a lot less hassle to the business or individual shipping the items. There could be container charges or overnight storage if the hub is too busy to receive the good and all this will need to be outlined in a contract between the shipping company and the person or company shipping the goods. It is a good idea to shop around, call several places and ask a lot of questions, in order to get the best price for shipments going to Canada.

Moreover, it might be worth looking into which hub or station a carrier uses to transport their shipments into Canada. Some of the smaller hubs might charge more than the bigger hubs or visa versa. It never hurts to call and discuss the freight forwarding costs before deciding which carrier to allow to haul a company’s merchandise.

Something else that could be a little exasperating to someone trying to ship something across the boarder is the shipping duties that must be paid. These are difficult to figure out in advance and usually are added by the freight company. The duties for shipping into Canada average zero money to upwards of 20 percent or more of the total cost of the objects being shipped. The Canadian Boarder Services Agency, the institute accountable for marking the duties, release the duties amounts every year.

If an individual or company who is shipping products across the boarder into Canada, they would do good to check a website that lists all the imported duties or charges for many of the most popular items, however many of these lists are pages long, some over one hundred. One of the more popular items that travel across the boarder is shoes and their taxes listing pages are in the 20 pages. The website is sponsored by Industry Canada.

If an individual or business is not in much of a hurry to get their product to it’s destination in Canada, they could use cross border shipping through the postal services and pay around $10. This will take a couple of weeks to get their items to where it belongs, but will save money. If a company or person is in a hurry, they will have to pay for the convenience of fast delivery by using a private carrier that charges between $25 and $75 to get the products there with in a week’s time.

There are several different websites available to individuals and companies that are going to ship products to a Canadian individual or business which will help them calculate the taxes they will have to pay in addition to the shipping charges. However, it will be difficult to get an exact amount for a total bill without calling the freight carrier company that one is going to use. The amount due for shipping is dependent on the rate of American money verses the Canadian currency. Having the exact or close weight of the items will help the transportation company to give a more accurate price for shipping. In addition, people will expect to pay cross border shipping fees if they have lived in Canada for any length of time.

Need a solution to your shipping problems or even shipping costs? Canada’s largest courier company offers the perfect products and solutions for you. They have overnight shipping, air freight, and other services.

What Wildlife Will You Find In Ireland?

July 21st, 2010

Although you won’t find any big game or large predators in Ireland, except in a zoo, there are many interesting animals to be seen in Ireland’s five national parks. Only 30 species of land animals are native to Ireland, but there is a wealth of birdlife to more than make up for this.

A visit to any of the national parks will afford you a glimpse of the magnificent Red Deer. These are the largest native mammals in Ireland, and are unique to the country. A visit to Killarney, Glenveagh, Ballycroy, Wicklow Mountains or Connemara National Parks will certainly give you an opportunity to see these deer in large numbers. You will also find red fox, pine marten, Irish stoat, mink, otter, badgers, hare and fallow deer throughout the parks. The Connemara ponies are a lovely sight, found gathered in herds throughout the Connemara National Park.

Birdwatchers will appreciate the variety of raptors found in the hills and mountains of the national parks, with falcon, peregrine and owls featuring regularly. The Glenveagh National Park has recently introduced the Golden Eagle to the park, with considerable success. This raptor was declared extinct in Ireland in 1912, but is now making a comeback. There are hundreds of bird species to be found throughout Ireland, including waterfowl in the bogs and lakes.

Ireland has two magnificent zoos to cater for the visitor looking for animals from further afield. Both are well laid out and feature enclosures that are designed to imitate or replicate the animals’ natural habitat. Dublin Zoo boasts rhino, hippo, lion, Siberian tiger, snow leopard and a variety of primates. Belfast Zoo includes snow tigers, Asian elephants and spectacled bears in its variety of animal species.

If you are interested in the marine life of Ireland, the Exploris Aquarium in Belfast offers fascinating discovery pools where visitors can meet the smaller sea and shore creatures up close. The open sea tank provides a peek into the inhabitants of the deeper ocean waters, and a Seal Sanctuary provides visitors with a glimpse of these ever popular creatures. Most of the marine life seen at the Aquarium can be found off the coast of Ireland, where the attentive tourist will spot whale and dolphin, if their timing is right.

Fota Wildlife Park is a 70 acre park on Fota Island in Cork Harbour where visitors can wander amongst free roaming animals for an exciting and educational experience. Fota Wildlife Park specifically features endangered or threatened species, making a trip to this park even more meaningful, as many of the animals they have are no longer found in the wild such as the Rothschild Giraffe and European Bison. Other animals found in the park (not all of them free-roaming) include cheetah, lemur, emu, monkeys, kangaroos, penguin, red panda and many more.

Although Irish wildlife may not seem to offer a thrilling adventure, the lack of large predators means that visitors can walk or cycle through the national parks in relative safety. This affords visitors the opportunity to see smaller animals that make for interesting viewing, particularly in their natural habitat. For the more unusual, and dangerous, animals, a visit to one of the zoos or the wildlife park will certainly entertain and educate you.

Do Ireland’s Presidents Have A Role In Cultural Life?

July 21st, 2010
Comments Off

Because Ireland’s presidents rely on support from their local communities to vote them into office, they tend to be far more involved in local grass roots initiatives. Their role in terms of the cultural life of Ireland is one of supporting and motivating the continued preservation and continuation of traditional Irish culture.

President Mary McAleese, the 8th president of Ireland, clearly takes her role in cultural life seriously, supporting local cultural events, festivals and activities throughout Ireland. Her presence at local events, from school recitals to international exhibitions, ensures that her support of the arts and culture of Ireland are visible to all members of the community. Her patronage of local cultural organizations, attendance at events and support of cultural activities actively encourages participation and preservation of Ireland’s rich cultural heritage.

This participation starts from the ground up, including visiting schools and receiving visits from school groups. The president actively engages people in the preservation and continuation of the cultural life of Ireland, ensuring that she motivates continued efforts in this arena with her encouragement and enthusiasm. Whether attending a school recital or the opening of an international exhibition, by her presence, President McAleese is far more than just a figurehead.

On an official level, President McAleese has shown her support for arts and culture with international visits to showcase Ireland’s talent and make inroads into the international market. In 2008 she accompanied Enterprise Ireland and the Irish Film Board on a visit to Hollywood to promote Ireland’s talent in the industry, as well as the country as filmmaking location. The president also attended the European Cultural Foundation National Conference, representing Irish interests and culture. President McAleese presents numerous awards throughout the year, many of them based on cultural activities and achievements, such as Ireland’s Laureate for Children’s Literature.

The formation of the Department of Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands, founded at the end of former President Mary Robinson’s term in office, has helped to improve government’s support of the graphic and visual arts. Protecting and preserving historic and cultural heritage of Ireland remains a vital aim of this department, responsible for organising, sponsoring and supporting various cultural activities and events around the country.

Encouraging the youth is possibly the most important part of the presidents role in cultural life in Ireland. Preserving the language, arts and crafts of Ireland is a primary motivation for the President’s involvement, and important for the cultural heritage of the country. Most cultural traditions are handed down from generation to generation, and must be preserved in order to thrive. Pride in their national heritage can only be strengthened by the active role the Irish president plays in preserving cultural life in Ireland.

Leave The City Behind When You Visit Vilkovo

July 21st, 2010
Comments Off

Situated where the Danube River splits into three before entering the Black Sea, Vilkovo offers visitors a wealth of angling opportunities in a scenic and peaceful town. Known as the Ukraine’s Venice because the town is built on the Danube Delta marshlands with many water channels running between the homes and buildings, there is a rare feeling of returning to nature in this town.

For centuries Vilkovo has been subject to conquerors from Greek, Roman, Ottoman and Slavic civilizations, each leaving its mark, resulting in a distinctive culture, including a little known religion. Because most of the town is made up of channels and waterways, boats remain the primary mode of transport, as they were centuries ago when the Cossacks used their ’seagull’ boats to move around. Today, most of the boats are designed exactly the same, although they are now called ‘herring’ boats, the primary fish caught in the Danube River. The churches in Vilkovo hark to the fishing history of this town as well, all three of them named for Saint Nicholas, the patron saint of travellers, sailors and fishermen.

Besides the Danube herring, sought after by restaurants throughout Europe, visiting anglers will be delighted with the opportunity to catch wild carp and catfish. The superb fishing in the area naturally means that visitors should sample the array of fish dishes available at the eateries in the town as well. Salted herring is prepared by residents to last throughout the year, and fresh salmon is served as well.

The homes and gardens in Vilkovo are each built on their own island, built up from river sediment. This explains the areas nickname - ‘The Ukrainian Venice’. These are high maintenance homes though, as each year a trench around the house has to be dug out to replace sediment on the island, allow boats access, and prevent flooding. Without the addition of more silt each year, the homes would sink back into the marsh. The sediment is very rich, and the gardens in Vilkovo are magnificent.

Wooden walkways along the channels and waterways provide endless opportunity for visitors to stroll through the town admiring the gardens and scenic views. The waterways were once the only water source, used for drinking, washing cooking and transportation. Although piped water is now available, many still make use of the supply outside their front door. Vilkovo is well known for its strawberries, apples and quince, as well as its viticulture. The local range of wines is produced from the Novak grape, and is said to be somewhat higher in alcohol content than many visitors expect - so sip carefully.

Vilkovo is in the Danube Biosphere Reserve, a wetland that is home to almost a thousand plant species and nearly 260 bird species. In spring and summer, visitors will be greeted by vast reedbanks, lily-covered lakes and islands of willows and poplars, home to pelicans, cormorant, duck, gees, spoonbill and the occasional sea-eagle. A boat tour of the Danube Delta provides visitors the opportunity to take in the beautiful flora and fauna of the region. This scenic town is subject to the rhythms of nature, influenced by the seasons, weather and water, and gives visitors a pleasant, peaceful retreat from the bustle of city life.

What If You Don’t Have The Energy To Workout?

July 10th, 2010
Comments Off

One of the top excuses I hear as to why people don’t workout is because they are too tired. Now, in most cases it’s just an excuse for “I’m too lazy to workout.” However, I know that there are some folks out there that are truly exhausted all the time. To them working out is like trying to drive a car on an empty tank of gas. As the saying goes, the mind is willing but the body is weak.

So how do you fix this problem? There are a few changes that you must make if you want things to change. As always, information is useless if you don’t apply it. So put this knowledge to work and be prepared to see a major improvement in your energy levels. It typically takes one or two weeks before you start to notice a difference.

Drink lots of water - Our body’s makeup is 55% - 60% water. That fact by itself should tell you how vital water is to your health. However, keep in mind that your kidneys need water to do their job (removing toxins from your blood). If they don’t get enough water, those toxins won’t be removed to the degree that they should. Once those toxins begin to accumulate you will start to feel tired and worn down. Even worse, disease and sickness can start to result. Drink at least 12 ounces of water with every meal and snack (5-6 per day), if you aren’t active. If you are active, you should be drinking about a gallon per day.

Get sufficient sleep - While this is probably the most vital piece, it is probably also the most ignored. Sleep is the primary way your body and brain recharge themselves. So if you don’t get enough, how can you expect to function well? Six to eight hours of sleep should be your goal each night. Even if you have to give up some of your night activities or television programs, it’s well worth it.

Stretch your muscles daily - Muscles that are limber need less energy in order to function. So of course, the opposite is also true. Stiff, inflexible muscles are using up more gas than they should, although you probably don’t even realize it. So basic tasks like walking, reaching, and getting in and out of a chair have a cumulative effect that contributes to being tired by the day’s end. Make it a habit to stretch your body every day. Three or four minutes is all it takes.

Eating healthy - If I went into full detail about eating correctly, it would require a entirely seperate article. But I can give a simple overview. You need to eat three meals and three snacks per day. Load up on fruits and vegetables of different colors. Protein is also vital and should come from lean and clean white meat, as well as fish. You can eat red meat as well, but keep it limited to every six or seven days. The fruits and veggies feed your body vitamins that support energy. The high protein intake boosts your metabolism, which also results in better energy levels.

If low energy has been plaguing you, don’t procrastinate, make these changes immediately! Follow this plan and fatigue will no longer stand in the way of you and your fitness goals. Improved health will also result. Stay positive, believe in yourself, and refuse to quit.

Be sure to sign up for the free workout routines on Vaughn’s site. He is a respected trailblazer among Atlanta personal trainers that has been getting clients great results for many years.

How To Invest For Your Retirement

June 13th, 2010
Comments Off

Retirement may be a long, long way off for you or it might be just immanent. matter how near or far away it is, you have absolutely got to start saving for it right now. However, saving for retirement isn’t what it used to be with the increase in the cost of living and the unreliability of social security. Nowadays, you really have got to invest for your retirement future, as opposed to just saving for it!

Let us start by taking a look at the retirement plan offered by your company. Once upon a time, these plans were quite sound. However, after the Enron collapse and all that followed, people aren’t as confident in their company retirement plans anymore. However, if you choose not to invest in your company’s retirement plan, you do have other options.

First of all, you can invest in bonds, certificates of deposit, money market accounts, mutual funds and stocks in alphabetical order. You do not have to state to anybody that the returns on these investments are to be used for retirement. Just let your money grow over a period of time, and when an investment reaches its maturity date or value, reinvest it and continue to let your money grow.

You can also open an Individual Retirement Account (IRA). IRAs are quite popular because the money is not taxed until you withdraw the funds. You may also be able to deduct your IRA contributions from the taxes that you owe. An IRA can be opened at most banks.

A ROTH IRA is a much newer type of retirement vehicle. With a Roth, you pay taxes on the money that you are investing in your ROTH IRA account, but when you cash out, no federal taxes are owed. Roth IRAs can also be opened at most larger financial institutions.

Another popular very type of retirement vehicle is the 401(k). 401(ks) are usually offered through employers, but you may be able to open a 401(k) on your own. You should speak with a financial planner or an accountant to help you decide whether this is right for you.

The Keogh scheme is another sort of IRA that is more suited to self employed people. Self-employed small business owners may also be interested in Simplified Employee Pension Plans (SEP). This is another sort of Keogh plan that some people usually find easier to run than a normal Keogh scheme.

Whichever retirement investment you decide on, please ensure you do choose one! Again, do not depend on social security, company retirement plans, or even an inheritance that may or may not come through! Take care of your financial future by investing in it today.

If you or someone you know is nearing retirement, just go along to our web site at Retirement and Pensions
