The making of a K-cups

see how a k-cup is made

James Freeman, owner of Blue Bottle Café in San Francisco, just bought a specially-designed Japanese-imported coffeemaker for the whopping cost of $20,000. The machine produces drip coffee.

Instead of stocking his café  with the polished, pressure-driven Italian machines which generate stylish, yummy espressos, Freeman is devoted to drip coffee for one simple, straightforward purpose: filter java tastes astounding! Java industry experts state that while espresso is remarkable in its own right, its high pedestal doesn’t actually stand too not even close the challenging beauty of filter java.

Freeman says, as reported in the New York Times, “siphon java is very delicate—it’s sweeter and juicier, and the flavors modify as the heat changes. At times it has a texture so light it’s almost moussey.

To acquire some of that yummy drip java, you don’t need to cash out $20,000 like Freeman. Keurig machines offers gourmet java for even lower than 1% of that very prized Japanese drip java maker. Keurig machines deliver the same high-quality tastes, so easily controlled and altered to your unique flavor choices, beginning with $99.95.

So how do Keurig makers deliver a cup of coffee that tastes better than the typical joe? A lot of this perfection is balanced perfectly on the anatomy of a Keurig K-Cup. Keurig makers, unlike other one-cup machines, deliver fresh java whenever at the touch of a button. However how does it all work?

Layer One: Plastic

The plastic K-Cup layer is created to help keep the dampness away, the tastes in. When java is ground, flavors are instantaneously released. Ideally, coffee ought to be drunk immediately after grinding. But for those who don’t have time to measure, dispense, grind and place coffee into machines, Keurig machines present a gourmet alternative. The high-quality, fresh coffee is manufactured into an airtight container, right away after grinding. While the K-Cup java is waiting to be drunk, this plastic layer guards coffee from dampness, light and air. The plastic layer of K-Cups allows java made by Keurig machines to always taste their freshest. The container also withstands pressure to ensure that K-Cup structure holds when its punctured. The plastic part of the K-Cup allows for the coffee within to never be compressed or disturbed.

Layer Two: Foil

The coffee is sealed within the K-Cup container with a removable foil top. Just like the plastic layer, the foil also helps maintain aromas and flavors smell in! But the foil top also allows for the Keurig appliance to very easily access the fresh coffee. During the brewing procedure, following the h2o is heated to the desired heat, the equipment punctures the top of K-Cup, the foil lid. Water is then pumped throughout the K-Cup to generate coffee. This piece of foil may not seem like much however it’s a fine line that stands between you and refreshing coffee. Without it, there would be no fresh java, and if replaced by something else, the coffee wouldn’t be efficiently accessible.

Layer Three: Filter

Without a filter your straightforward drip java wouldn’t be as cost-efficient. The device would simply press the java grinds straight through the plastic K-Cup. You’d be left with a cup filled with grinds, just like traditional Turkish java. If you wanted to  rid of the grinds, you might have to fuss with your coffee just as if you would a French Press coffee—by scraping out the java grinds yourself. A filter, already perfectly in place, allows you to instantly start preparing without any problems. The filter exactly located along at the bottom of the K-Cup already holds the scrumptious freshly ground coffee that you want to sip.

There is simply no need for calculating, filling, grinding, removing in the Keurig brewing process. Keurig K-Cups allow your refreshing coffee to be made at the single touch of a button. The invention associated with Keurig K-Cups is like the development of sliced bread. Cost-efficient, yummy, as well as fresh. If any one of the those components in your favorite pack of sliced bread was changed, it just would not be as fantastic. If you get rid of that plastic bag, the bread wouldn’t be fresh. If you didn’t have the loaf pre-sliced, the whole sandwich making process wouldn’t be as easy. In a similar fashion, Keurig K-Cups, a handy advancement, is makes the fine-tuned process of producing java simple! Well-oiled and perfectly-tuned, Keurig brewers make java time that much more mouth watering.

It is a pleasure to know that one perk still offered to employees of large businesses is the complimentary coffee that keeps so many workers focused and on task. While some people reach for the java all day long, others are just looking for that wake-me-up-and-get-me-moving cup of joe early in the morning or during that late afternoon lull many people face.

Reaching for the coffeepot only to find it empty is a real let-down for employees, not a happy perk? Moreover, some will make it to the break room to find coffee still in the pot, but having been there so long it resembles mud? Valuable time is likely being wasted each and every day right in your office as employees struggle to scrub clean the burned coffeepot.

You could call the Keurig B3000 the bottomless cup producer. You will be hard pressed to find someone in your office who won’t appreciate you for introducing this machine to your staff. This fantastic piece of equipment is amazingly plumbed directly into a water line, and thus provides and escape from the ‘it’s always me making the coffee’ syndrome. Individuals have individual taste; the Keurig B3000 offers the opportunity for self-expression in individual brews. Additionally, the dilemma over how long the coffee has been sitting is over. It is possible to have a freshly brewed cup every 60 seconds.

Because the B3000 uses a unique K-Cup design each and every individual cup is brewed to size; you can even choose from four, six, eight, and ten-ounce cup sizes based on how much or how little you enjoy. There is no more scraping and scouring whilst your employees scowl and clean that burned coffeepot. The Keurig B3000 is designed to not only solve the problems listed above, but also put money back into the pockets of those brilliant employers who will reclaim this perk as just that–truly a perk! The Keurig B3000 also cuts down on waste; and insures that each person gets their brew the strength they prefer. No more drama over who can’t get their work done because they feel they must play maid to the entire staff and take care of the messes every day with the automatic K-Cup ejection and storage facility feature.

Reflectively, by reclaiming this perk you are creating a more positive atmosphere–showing your staff you appreciate them–and you are improving their working conditions and yours. The digital, easy to read user interface allows you to select from three different languages, making it great for a diversified office staff.

This coffee connoisseur’s delight does not need a flashy sales pitch; after you’ve tried a cup you will be sold. You will even find through the Keurig website an offer for a three-day in-office free trial. A great addition to any office, the Keurig B3000 is truly outstanding.

Green Mountain Coffee Roasters is an ardent supporter of the Fair Trade Movement and carry many Fair Trade Coffees under their label. In addition, the company donates 5% of its annual gross profits to a project called Brewing A Better World Fund which helps improve the quality of life of coffee farmers. The fund also supports sustinable farming techniques locally and abroad in a mission to protect our resources.

You will see the Fair Trade Certified logo on a variety of products, including Green Mountain Coffee. Fair Trade is a grass roots movement, which supports small disadvantaged farmers and producers and sees that they get a fair price for their product. Coffee farmers can sell their beans for a higher price, receive help as they make a transition to more organic methods and they also have much needed credit made available. This helps stop big business from taking advantage of these small producers.

The Fair Trade logo can only be used by companies that are 100% committed to the principles of Fair Trade. When you see the logo on coffee or other products, it means that:

  • The marketing of the product is ethical
  • The product was grown on an organic or sustainable farm.
  • The farmers earn a fair wage to commensurate for their product.

TransFairUSA is the product certifying body for the United States. It certiifies coffee, food, wine and flowers. In time, they hope to include other products such as garments, cosmetics and diamonds.

Green Mountain Coffee carries several Fair Trade Certified Coffees, some of which are organic blends, as well. Most are available in KCups as well as bags of whole beans. There is quite a variety of flavors and roasts from which to select:

  • Green Mountain Mexican Blend
  • Rain Forest Blend
  • French Roast
  • Ethiopian Yirgacheffe
  • Green Mountain House Blend
  • Organic Sumatra
  • Wild Mountain Blueberry
  • Vanilla Cream
  • Peruvian Blend
  • Green Mountain Breakfast Blend
  • Newman’s Own Organic Blends

When you purchase a Fair Trade product, such as coffee, you should know that the following principles are being followed:

  • The farmer received a certain minimum fair price plus an additional premium for organic products.
  • There are fair labor conditions for farmers and workers.
  • Forced child labor is not allowed at any cost.
  • There is direct trade, eliminating unnecessary middlemen.
  • Fair Trade farmers and farm workers decide democratically how to invest Fair Trade revenues.
  • The farmers invest in social and business development to improve life in their communities.
  • Environmentally sustainable farming methods are used to protect both the environment and the farmers’ health.

So when you buy a Green Mountain Fair Trade Coffee, know that you are supporting these efforts while you get a great cup of coffee!

A Home Coffee Roaster Machine

Do you enjoy coffee beans which are roasted? People buy them quite rapidly because of the flavor that they enjoy. You will be presented with problems of certain types. An initial problem, is that is hard to get the exact type you want. The second problem is that they’re very expensive, even more so than regular coffee beans.

Another option that you have is to buy roasted coffee pods. These are an excellent replacement for regular coffee filters because you simply put the coffee pod into a specially made coffee maker and you’ll get a full pot. The biggest problem with this is that you won’t have that custom pot of coffee anymore. It’s often difficult to brew any strength pot of coffee, be it, weak, medium, or strong. You also don’t have room for any of the in-between variants, and for this reason many people still choose the old-fashioned way over the whole coffee pod method. It would seem that there is only one way to go about getting roasted coffee beans without breaking the bank and without ruining your style!

A home coffee roaster is a great idea, though you need to be careful to select one that is right for your needs. When we say the right one, we mean that it really depends on how much roasted coffee you actually require. Home coffee roaster machines, on the low end, may cost seventy-five to eighty dollars, however, a high end one might cost upwards of five hundred. Quality, but even more is capacity being the biggest difference of cheaper models. Before you purchase one, it needs to be of high quality and a brand you trust. Like most people, you want your coffee roaster to last, right?

To locate for yourself these wonderful products, look no further than you nearest store or go online. There are many different websites selling them. Don’t forget, you may not receive a complete warranty, if you buy used. This means if anything were to happen to your coffee roaster you would not receive repair or replacement without a hefty fee.

On another note, the perfect coffee delivery system is also quite necessary. The Keurig single cup coffee maker is a dream come true for many coffee enthusiasts. It’s exactly what it sounds like—a coffee maker that only puts out a single cup. This is great for making gourmet cups of coffee, and it’s also great for those times when you only need one up. After you make coffee and drink as much as you can, you wonder if anyone will finish off the pot. With a Keruig single cup coffee maker you won’t have that issue, and you will have some of the best tasting coffee around.

Coffee is definitely a great drink in the morning, and many people rely on it. If you are one of those that just can’t survive without your morning cup of coffee, then you need to make sure that you’re getting the best this world has to offer. You will be sure to have a splendid day once you get that!

Wake Up With Zesty Sumatra Coffee in your K-cup!

Sometimes a cup of mellow Colombian coffee just does not have what it takes to get you going in the morning. You need a rich and strong cup of java to perk you up and give you a big morning boost. Several cups of strong but delicious coffee can soon have you looking at your new day with more relish and alertness. A morning that greets you with a cup of Sumatra coffee can hold the answer for you. Consistently full-bodied, with a heady aroma, there are several different brands of K-Cups of Sumatra coffee to use in your Keurig Brewer. Each cup is brimming with bold flavor and tangy nuances: try them all to find your favorite brand.

  • Sumatra Reserve Extra Bold from Green Mountain
  • Caribou Sumatra
  • Sumatra Dark Extra Bold From Gloria Jean
  • Timothy’s Sumatra Bold
  • Diedrich Sumatra

Sumatra coffee is very aromatic and makes a wonderfully satisfying cup – anytime of the day or night.Full of legends and mystery, the history of this coffee is as complex and interesting as a cup of the delicious, hot brew. The Dutch planted the first coffee plants in the early 19th Century in Sumatra, one of the thousands of tiny islands of Indonesia. These beans are known for producing a coffee that has a unique taste with a variety of subtle flavors. Coffee plantations in the mountainous areas produce beans known by their region: Sumatra Mandheling and Sumatra Lintong. Coffee from the Sumatra Gayo Mountain area or Aceh region are grown in the shade and without any chemicals. Green Sumatra coffee beans are easily identified by their asymmetrical shape and deep aquamarine color.

The brew’s unique flavor is attributed to the manner in which the beans were processed. After the coffee cherries are picked, the farmers remove the skins, using rickety but picturesque machines made from scrap metal, wood, and bicycle parts. Next, the beans are allowed to ferment overnight; then they are washed by hand and dried in the farmer’s yard before going to a middleman’s warehouse. Here, they undergo more drying. Finally, the beans are loaded on trucks and taken to the coffee exporter at the seaport of Medan, where there is additional drying time. Exposing the beans to the pulp of the harvested fruit for extended periods of time produces the deeper tones in your cup of Extra Bold Sumatra Reserve.

Many Sumatran beans, grown by farmers in small cooperatives, are Certified Fair Trade Coffee. This means that a more equitable price is paid by the importers and the farmers receive a fair portion of the coffee sales. So while you’re enjoying a robust cup of Sumatra Extra Bold, your purchase is aiding a partnership with the farmers of Sumatra to bring you the finest, hand picked, organic Arabica coffee beans.

Most of the Aceh beans in US coffee shops come from a large mill that incorporates a wet method of processing. It complies with international standards and is certified organic by a Dutch agency. The Gayo Mountain Washed beans produce a brew that is similar in flavor to that of the Lintong/Mandheling.

This mill also processes beans using a semi-dry method in which the outer skin of the coffee cherry is removed, leaving the beans covered with a sticky material. Next, they are naturally dried under the sun. These beans, marketed as Gayo Mountain Unwashed, produce an excellent, full-bodied coffee, after roasting.A lot of coffee addicts consider Sumatra as one of the finest in the world and its beans are perfect for darker roasting. Don’t overlook this excellent coffee when purchasing Keurig K Cups, ground or whole beans.

In-Room Coffee With Keurig – A Great Way To Start Your Day!

August 20th, 2009
Comments Off

When you’re planning a trip or vacation and making arrangements for your overnight accommodations, is coffee a concern?. Are you looking for space in your suitcase for your coffee pot – is it an appliance you always take along – just as important as your curling iron or electric razor? Are you one of those die hard coffee drinkers who couldn’t start the day with a cup or two or more of steaming brewed coffee to start your day right? One coffee devotee says, “I travel a lot and stay in good hotels on business. My Keurig Mini B30 is always tucked into my suitcase as I really need coffee in the morning before heading out for tough meetings.” She continues, “The only time I don’t take my small brewer is when I KNOW the hotel supplies in-room coffee made with a Keurig machine”.

Sound extreme? Not really if you’re a fan of delicious coffee and especially need it to give you that morning boost. The satisfied owner of a Keurig Platinum brewer, who regards coffee as a daily necessity, says, “I always ask if the places I’m staying have in-room coffee.” When he arrives and checks out his digs, he’s says “I’m very glad if I see a Keurig and those familiar KCup. I know i’ll enjoy great coffee even when I’m away from home.” Often, there’s no time for a trip to the hotel restaurant or a nearby coffee shop for a cup, leaving you to head out in the car on another leg of your journey - sans coffee. That’s a sure fire way to start the day disastrously with a caffeine headache and an edgy attitude.

According to Green Mountain Coffee Roasters CEO, Larry Blanford, 4 million of the approximately 5 million hotel rooms in the US have coffee makers. About 40% of these are in expensive hotels. With the goal of introducing their brewing system to the hospitality industry, Green Mountain Coffee recently launched the Keurig B130 Single Cup Coffee Maker. It has been designed specifically for use in hotels, motels, inns, B&Bs, and a variety of overnight facilities.

The brewer is sleek and attractive with a black and chrome body and is small enough to fit on a small counter, a desk, a bedside stand or dresser. The brewer’s design blends with the room’s decor and one manager explained, “We like our rooms to have that homey feel, not hotel rooms and we try to bring out that ambiance through everything the guest uses. The new in-room coffee machines fit in very well with that idea.” Clear, easily understood instructions for operation are displayed prominently on the machine, making its use simple. The sensor feature of the brewer only allows brewing when the coffee mug is placed on the drip tray. Another safety feature is the Auto-off switch which turns off the brewer after each brew. This brewer is no-fuss because it dispenses coffee directly into a mug as opposed to those with breakable glass carafes.

Several hotels settled on the Keurig brewer after trying many different single cup brewers simply because of the flavor of the coffee. Says one, “First and foremost, we thought the coffee it produced tasted the best!” With the variety of K-Cups that are now available, coffee drinkers are sure to find a pleasant surprise the next time they stop overnight in a hotel, which supplies the Keurig B130 for the use of its guests.
