How Was Mormonism Founded? - Joseph Smith Mormon

March 3rd, 2010

Any individual that is a member of the Church of latter-day Saints is actually from the Mormon religion. Their most beloved leader was Joseph Smith who was the discoverer of the Mormon religion. Quite often you would hear the Mormons talk about the first vision.

There are many different stories that go around about Josephs first vision and of the details surrounding it. Some say he was 14 others say he was 17 and then there are those that say he was 12. The story goes that he felt the need for direction to decide on which religion to join. Religion was at its peak in New York at this time and this is where Joseph and his family were residing. Joseph became very confused as to which was the proper religion. It is said that he spent two years of researching and decided that nobody really was teaching the New Testament but he was led to going to the Methodist church

He then purportedly turned to God in the woods near New York asking which church he should join. The one story says that at this time Joseph was surrounded in darkness and then a light came upon him and two persons appeared to him. One was the heavenly Father and his son Jesus Christ. According to Joseph. he states that he asked these heavenly bodies of what church he should join and was told that none of them because they were all wrong and that the fullness of the gospel of the truth would be revealed to him at another time.

Joseph told his family what happened and they believed him although many others did not and he was soon made a mockery of.

Joseph stood steadfast in his beliefs and nothing was going to sway him from this. He states that when he left the woods he was assured that the God head was up to three persons, separate individuals. He was also convinced that God hears and answers prayers. He was also of the mind that none of the churches were truthful and that he would be the one that would set the true religion

There was no doubt that the Joseph was feverish in his pursuit of this new religion. This is where the Mormon religion got its grounding. From just a few followers in no time at all is following grew to the thousands. It is now one of the top 10 religions in the United States. There seems to be no end to its growing and the modern name for the Mormon church now is the Church of the latter-day Saints.

On the surface of the Mormons appeared to believe very much as to that which is taught in the King James version of the Holy Bible. It is when you go beyond the surface where you will see the vast difference

It is the major differences that causes quite a dissent between the standard Christianity beliefs and values and the doctrine in what the Mormons believe.

Is The Idea Of Being Able To Astral Project Just A Myth?

February 28th, 2010
Comments Off

There are millions of people who believe that astral projection is real and that anyone can, and have, achieved this altered state. The key to this projection is practice and that is all it takes to astral project. Believed to be an ancient practice, followers say this practice should be treated with respect. Astral projection is a lot like meditating or yoga and comes in many different forms.

Lucid dreaming is the first level of astral projection. This form of dreaming is when you consciously dream and one type is astral projection. Many say this is a simple form of projection and that while you are dreaming, you begin by telling yourself ‘I am dreaming’

Doing this lets you take the reins in your dreams ” but it takes a while to master this, making it not the best way for beginners to astral project.

Astral projection is something you have done before, although you may not realize that you have done so. Have you ever awoken from a particularly vivid dream remembering every detail? You were not dreaming this ” you were astral projecting.

The key to projecting is to believe that you can do it. This belief will help to eliminate doubts about astral projection and can propel you into becoming a pro.

Methods that help you to relax like meditating helps to promote projection. Meditation prepares the mind and body for astral projection and all it takes is practice and time through meditating properly.

You should do your meditation in a quiet room where you have a comfortable place to sit and will not be interrupted or distracted. Start freeing your mind of worry and tension. You cant astral project when you have these negative energies in your mind. Begin to eliminate all thoughts from your mind and focus on your breathing. You want to take deep, slow breaths ” in thorough your nose, out through your mouth. If you can remain focused on your breathing, youll begin to feel yourself relaxing.

Now is the point where you need to reach an altered state of consciousness. You need to focus not only on your breathing but the way you are breathing. The breaths you take should come from deep down inside. As your breathing slows down, focus more and more on relaxing your body.

Starting from your toes, work upwards, relaxing every part of your body as you proceed. You can do this by either tensing then relaxing each part of your body or by moving up, visualizing each part of you relaxing as you go.

With each exhalation, you should feel the tension leaving your body. Once your body is completely and totally relaxed you will be ready to move onto the next stage necessary for you to successfully astral project.

At this point, you are completely ready and prepared for sleep, but it is important to stay alert during this time. Many practicing projectors come up with a phrase such as ‘I can fly, I can fly’ there is no wrong phrase, so you can come up with your own.

When the human mind is unoccupied, it will tend to wander; this will ruin the concentration you need to astral project. Just keep repeating your phrase to yourself and taking slow, deep breaths.

There are different ways to achieve a state of altered consciousness. You can repeat your chosen phrase or do it another way. Imagine a glowing light, and then imagine you entering it and transforming yourself into this body of light. This is referred to as the body of light technique.

Three feelings you can expect to experience that will let you know that you have achieved astral projection are initially feeling as through your floating or moving. You will then see lights and colors even though your eyes are closed, this is believed to be your body moving into the astral world. Last, it is said that you will hear voices that will tell you to stop or encourage you to keep going. This state lets you know that you have achieved astral projection.

Learn How to Cultivate Mind Power for Success

February 27th, 2010

Many people view mind power as something rather mystical and many people have the wrong idea about it. There is nothing mysterious about it. It’s simply the ability expand the power of the mind and training it in a way that will make the most out of using the subconscious mind and self hypnotic suggestion.

Many times mind power entail little more than increasing the awareness one has towards what lies beneath the surface to prevent any impediments that might interfere with their behavior.

How does mind power work? There are a number of instances where it occurs. In some people a traumatic experience from their childhood could be standing in the way of them acting in certain way. For example, if a person was in a terrible car accident as a child, the individual could find that he or she has a strong aversion to long commutes or road travel. This could cause the individual to decline job offers that would require travel or a long commute. Some people think this example is atypical, but it’s really not. Many people are unknowingly guided by their subconscious in a way similar to the example.

In order to understand and change motivations like this its necessary to tap into whatever lies under the different levels of the subconscious. Understanding these motivations is the only way to effectively reverse any negative impact these motivations are having on your life. If one can gain better control of his or her mind, then it’s possible to use mind power to your benefit.

There are times when effectively tapping into the power of the mind involves reaffirming skills you might have or gathering the strength you need to really reach down inside yourself in order to find success. Success often begins with the power within us.

It might seem trite to some people to say that if you simply believe in yourself you will have an easier time succeeding. However, if your mind is guiding you toward success, you will undoubtedly find success easier to achieve.

When you believe you can succeed, you increase the odds that you will. This does not mean, however, that merely thinking you will succeed will be enough to deliver the results you require and no one is making such an assertion. No, what is meant here is that as long as you approach your situation with a proper mental outlook you will discover the chances of succeeding increase.

Again, much mind power revolves around a positive outline combined with a belief in the self. Such an attitude will lead to greater success than most imagine.

Learning how to effectively cultivate mind power isn’t something that can be achieved overnight. However, with enough commitment and effort, you’ll discover that you can achieve the right type of mind power to be effective.

Your Amazing Mindpower

February 24th, 2010

Scientists estimate that we only use around ten percent of our mind power. - Only ten percent! Can you imagine what would happen if you could access the remaining ninety percent? The results would be incredible!

In fact it has long been thought by scientists that people with all types of extra sensory and psychic powers have these powers because they are able to access different parts of their mind from other people. It seems that they were either born with this increased mindpower or have managed to develop this mindpower in later life.

How exactly all of this works is not yet entirely understood, but progress continues to be made in examining how our thoughts may affect the world around us.

In fact recent scientific studies are starting to verify what the ancient religions have been saying for thousands of years, that reality is merely a product of your mind, and if you change the way you think, then you can change your reality. ‘Mindpower’ is in fact the only reality!

Popular books like ‘The Secret’ explain the idea that people can use their mindpower to change the world around them through what is called the law of attraction.

This principle states that there are causes and effects to everything, even our own thoughts can bring about tangible effects if directed properly. It all relies on being able to get your conscious mind to communicate to your subconscious in order to use your latent mindpower to achieve results.

So the subconscious mind is not only responsible for all of the esp powers such as telepathy, remote viewing, and precognition, it also reacts with the ‘universe’ or what some call the ‘universal consciousness’, to manifest your desires.

In order to develop your mindpower, you need to get your conscious and subconscious minds in communication with each other. There a number of different methods to build this link and help you increase your mindpower.

Affirmations:- A staple of positive thinking, affirmations are repeated until they sink into the subconscious mind, where they influence your behavior to achieve the desired outcomes. Your subconscious can make things happen by using your unused mindpower.

So if someone needed more self esteem for example, they would keep repeating to themselves at various times throughout the day something like: ‘I am a confident person’ ‘I deserve to be happy’ etc. Or they may wish to change a bad habit which would involve them repeating to themselves: ‘I always eat sensibly’ or ‘I no longer feel the need for a cigarette’.

Affirmations produce results with repetition. You need to repeat the message until it reaches your subconscious and begins to make you change your behavior to get the results you’ve wanted.

Follow this line of reasoning and you’ll see that you can change everything; not just your own behavior but reality itself can be molded by your own mindpower!

Visualization:- Visualization is another effective method of developing mindpower. You just need to close your eyes and start to see the results you want to achieve. Your subconscious mind will pick up on these images and begin to start making them a reality. Whatever you want, you can visualize it and your subconscious can begin to set events in motion to make it happen. Anything you focus your visualizations on will become a reality.

You can even visualize yourself using some of your other latent mental abilities. For example, visualize yourself communication with someone else telepathically or being able to use remote viewing. Using your mindpower in this way will help these natural psychic abilities to develop.

Hypnosis:- Hypnosis is another well known way of communicating with your subconscious mind and helping to develop mindpower. If you visit a professional hypnotist or hypnotherapist they will start by making sure you are totally relaxed and then offer suggestions to your subconscious mind which it will remember when you wake up.

You can also use self hypnosis by listening to a recording of a hypnotherapy session. Not only s this less costly than seeing a hypnotherapist, but you can use this recording over and over again as needed.

Brainwave entrainment:- This is a new audio technology which is brainwave synchronization. This changes instantly your brainwaves to a certain frequency. This can result in many things. At a certain frequency you can improve your memory. At another frequency natural endorphins are released into your body which heal and alleviate pain.

There are frequencies which help your mind to reach the meditative state needed to communicate with your subconscious and develop your mindpower.

There are also frequencies designed to stimulate the chakras; these are your body’s energy centers. One of the most important chakras is the ‘third eye’ which corresponds to psychic abilities.

All of us already have these psychic powers; but they must be developed by enhancing your mindpower. Unless you make the effort to develop these abilities, they remain locked in your subconscious mind and are never used.

So when we talk about developing mindpower we really mean unlocking all of the latent powers and true potential of every human being.

A Beginners Guide To How To Astral Project

February 24th, 2010
Comments Off

Astral projection is an ability that everyone has, whether they know it or not. Many people actually do it while sleeping, they are just not aware of it. If you want to learn to astral project, what you are actually learning is how to consciously do this so you can control where you go and what you do.

Assuming you already know what your astral body is and what the astral plane is, let’s learn a few different techniques that will help you astral project. When you astral project, you experience something extremely personal. Because of this, it is very important that you learn which techniques work best for you.

The first one is fairly easy for most people. You want to do this when you are in bed and just about ready to go to sleep. This technique involves five simple steps.

*First, before you go to sleep make sure that you completely relax your body. You want a deep state of relaxation. An easy way to do this is to lay in bed, and starting with your toes tense and relax each muscle. You want to work your way up your body, each muscle all the way to your face. At first, this may seem uncomfortable or your body may feel very heavy. There is nothing to worry about, this feeling is present because your body is not used to being this relaxed.

*Second, you need to deepen and slow your breathing. There is a technique that is used for meditation, and what you want to do it breathe in deeply and pay attention to the way the air feels as it enters your lungs and moves down through to your diaphragm. Then you exhale completely, slowly and as you feel the air leaving your lungs and going out of the body you are relaxing your body and mind. It is important that as you breathe in deeply that you do not fall asleep, to help avoid falling asleep you may want to focus on the center of your forehead.

*For step three, evaluate how your body feels. Is it heavy? Imagine your body is a lump of clay that does not move easily. Now, think of your astral body it feels so light. It is weightless floating free. Close your eyes and envision your astral self. It feels so light it could float easily like bubbles or feathers carried by a breeze. The contrast is the physical body feels very heavy, while the astral body feels light as a feather.

*This is the point when many people who prefer this astral projection technique say that they can see the dark room through their closed eyelids. They describe the room as being full of purple light. If you achieve this step, focus on the ceiling light.

*The fifth step is where you want to imagine that you are pulling the ceiling light to you. As you are pulling the light to you, you will probably feel as though you are floating. It is important that you stay conscious. Most likely you will now be aware that you are floating, you might even be able to see your physical body asleep below you now.

Congratulations, you have successfully astral projected yourself. You are now able to begin your astral travels. If this technique did not work for you, here is a second technique on how to astral project.

This technique is known as the gazing method. You can do this technique when you are going to bed as well. All you need is something to focus on, this can be a picture in your room, the moon outside the window, a crystal, whatever you prefer.

Now that you have your object, place it so you can see it easily when you are lying in bed. Focus on this object. As you continue to stare at it, you should feel your eyes getting heavy. Even though they get heavy, keep staring at the object. While your eyes will eventually close, you should still be able to see the object. As you continue to stare, you may feel like you want to sit up or even stand. As this happens, do not be surprised if you still see your physical body lying on the bed, asleep.

Don’t get discouraged if you don’t succeed the first few times you try them. Frustration will increase your anxiety levels, which will prevent you from relaxing and being able to project astrally. If you find that neither of these two techniques work for you, don’t worry there are others that you can try.

It is very important that you understand that it is not really the tools or techniques you use to astral project that may be holding you back. The real stumbling block no matter what method you use is your own subconscious mind. Give your subconscious reassurances that it is acceptable for your spirit body to leave your physical body for a short time. Affirmations are a very effective way to send this message to your subconscious mind. Once your subconscious mind accepts this, astral projection will be very easy for you.

There are also a few other short cuts to help you astral project very rapidly. Without them it can take a long time to get into the right state of mind but if you use them it can happen very fast after your first attempt!

Hypnosis may help you achieve a relaxed state much more quickly. If you use a quality guided hypnosis session, it can also help explain how to astral project so you don’t have to worry about remembering what to do next. This lets you just follow the session and relax, increasing your chances of having a successful astral projection.

Another new method using sound technology involves “binaural beats.” This involves different frequencies of sound being played in each ear. This technique can rapidly put you into a very deep meditative state that is perfect for successful astral projecting.

Remember that being able to astral project is not as difficult as most people believe it is. It is a natural ability that you were born with, and all of these tools and techniques just help you to fine tune an ability which is already there!

How Do We Deal With The Loss Of A Loved One?

February 20th, 2010
Comments Off

We grieve as instinctive reaction to loss. It is the pain that you experience when someone who or something that is part of your life, someone or something you love, is no longer there.

Several instances of mourning for the loss of a person or something are as follows:

- a breakup with someone you have are in a relationship with - loss of an employment - you wasted the big chance to follow your dream - you discover that a person very close to you is diagnosed with a serious illness - you are diagnosed with a fatal illness - your spouse wants a divorce - loss of a cherished friendship - the pet that you had for a long time passed away - a person you love dies

All these instances can cause us to experience grief. Nevertheless, of all the scenarios given, it is the loss of a loved one, such as a spouse, a son or daughter, or a mother or father, that causes so much sorrow. Nothing on this earth can take away the emptiness that their death causes.

We may have shared a huge part of our lives with our loved ones who passed away. Thus, life is now never the same as it were when our loved ones were still alive. We grieve for our loss. Yet, in grieving, we have the hope of being able to heal our pains and strengthen our lives to move forward once more.

There is no right or wrong way to grieve. Yet we must choose non-destructive ways to express grief, which can foster the healing that we need after experiencing loss.

Grieving does not mean wailing or weeping your heart out each time you recall your loss. Tears are not the only indicators of grief. A person could be stoic yet deep inside the waves of powerful emotions are roiling.

Grieving doesn’t have a set duration, such as the “recommended” time of just 1 year. The span of the grieving process will be different for one individual compared with another. If you are grieving, don’t force yourself to immediately “get over it.” Time is a great healer.

Who Is A Funeral Director And What He Does

February 20th, 2010
Comments Off

The main task of a funeral director is to make all arrangements for the entire funeral up to the handling of the dead body at the cremation or burial.

There are four important duties of a funeral director, they are: (a) shifting of the corpse to the mortuary; (b) embalming and preparing the body for the ceremony; (c) preparing for the services for friends and family to pay their final respects to the departed and; (d) the final act of burial or cremation as per the customs of the family.

These responsibilities involve focusing on essential activities like deciding the place and timings of the memorial services, arranging for a car to shift the body, and preparing obituaries and posting them in newspapers or the electronic media. Moreover, the funeral directors also have to make sure that the decorations and flowers are in place. In addition to this, they have to make the body ready for the service by washing and embalming it and arrange transportation for the relatives gathering for the service.

Besides these jobs, a funeral director also handles the essential paperwork that are a part of the formalities that follow a person’s death. He helps in obtaining a proper death certificate for the dead person. He also makes preparations to settle any insurance claims, and helps the family members in applying for veterans’ burial benefits. He also helps in transferring pension and annuity money, if any, of the deceased person to the dependants of the deceased and helps the family with estimates of the costs of the entire funeral service.

He also has to coordinate with a number of professionals to accomplish his jobs in an efficient and systematic manner. He must be able to interact with doctors, florists, casket makers and priests equally well.

Finally, the funeral directors must be considerate too and must try to offer some solace to the grieving family and try to help them out of their sorrows over the death of a loved one. Though some funeral directors neglect this responsibility, it is an important aspect in a job like this.

Common Funeral Traditions And Rites

February 17th, 2010
Comments Off

The world over, funeral ceremonies are governed by various customs and traditions. Funerals give a chance to the bereaved to pay their final respects for their departed loved ones and cope with their loss.

Church rules regulate the funeral rites in Christian communities. However, as there are over 200 different Christian community offshoots, there may be several differences in the way they hold funeral services.

An important ritual of a Christian funeral, called wake, is the very first ritual that is performed before the actual funeral and involves a nightly watch over the dead person and recital of prayers for the peace of his soul. As per the present day rituals, this is when the relatives and friends pay a last visit to the deceased and offer their final respects. The deceased is preserved and placed either at the home or in a Chapel with only a particular number of visiting hours. In earlier times, the deceased was sought to be absolved of his sins of his earthly existence by performing the ritual of absolution after wake. This included placing a cross on the deceased’s body and offertory in the casket, where presents were kept.

Then comes the main ceremony, which begins with the transportation of the deceased’s body to the Church in a hearse and is followed by recitation of hymns and prayers from the Bible. After this, the clergy asks a family member or a friend to offer a eulogy before the burial. Some Christian communities have chiming of the bells as a part of the proceedings that marks the end of service. After the funeral service, the casket is taken to the burial site where a burial service is held before the act of burial.

Finally, the family members organize a lunch for the friends, relatives and acquaintances who are attending the funeral. The main aim of this custom is to share the sorrow of the family and help them deal and come to terms with the loss.

Main Skills In Order To Become An Undertaker

February 17th, 2010
Comments Off

Funeral ceremonies and other related tasks are handled by undertakers, also called funeral directors. Listed below are skills and qualities undertakers need to to be able to achieve success in this profession.

Since an undertaker’s services may be needed any given time of the day, a person interested in this profession must be ready to be on call for any time of the day. This is primarily an outdoor job, so he should be ready to spend majority of his time outside.

The undertaker must be able to respect the feelings of clients, listen and understand their requirements and interact lucidly. With clients hailing from many religions, cultures and communities he should be able to interact with and handle each one of them successfully. He must be compassionate and should empathize with others. However, he must be mentally strong and not get carried away by other people’s grief, so that he can provide emotional support to others.

Although the job is by nature sombre and serious, the undertakers should bring dignity and serenity to the proceedings instead of more sorrow or unhappiness through their demeanour.

Undertakers should have vast knowledge and deep respect for the religious beliefs and sentiments of different cultures and ethnic groups. They should also be familiar with the funeral rites and customs of burial of different orders.

A successful undertaker will essentially possess good management abilities and organisation skills. He should also have leadership skills and should be able to interact with a wide range of people - from the clergy members to the local florist.

Legalities and other formalities to be followed in the event of a death must be known to the undertaker who will have to get the requisite approvals etc for the funeral ceremonies and other related matters. He will have to be fully conscious of rules to be followed with respect to obtaining death certificates or claims for insurance.

Finally, he must necessarily be able to and be eligible to drive vehicles such as limousines and hearses during the funeral ceremony.
