When thinking about a Minnesota children’s summer camp think about Swift Nature Camp. We are only a few short hours from Minneapolis and many of our campers are from Minnesota. For others, Minneapolis and St Paul, the largest cities in Minnesota is where our campers fly in from all around the world. Some parent even plan a little vacation in the city of Minneapolis. It’s diverse and grand with many exciting things to do and see, including the world famous Mall of America. The great variety of food and entertainment alone are well worth visiting this great city to take advantage of. So make sure to plan enough time to visit the city when you bring your child to resident camp this summer. You may even plan on seeing some of our local campers form Minneapolis.

Swift Nature Camp is only a few short miles from Minnesota. It’s like having a Children’s summer camp in Minnesota. We are so fortunate to be able to avail ourselves to the natural beauty of Minnesota. Near Lake Superior, the largest of the great lakes. Many Swift Campers hike along the scenic bluffs of the Superior Hiking Trail. A little further north in Minnesota, campers participate in canoe trips to the Boundry Waters of Minnesota. This National Park is untouched by man. Here in this Minnesota camp, the views are breathtaking from the deep dark forests to the sparkling lakes, the naturalistic and simple beauty is evident while canoeing from lake to lake or just taking it easy while picking blue berries.

Horses! Enough said. Today’s children often have their first interactions with a horse at summer camp. For most of us living the urban dream it is hard to have enough time in a day or space to own a horse. Yet at camp, children have the opportunity to get back to our American roots and have a relationship with a horse. Yes, a relationship! Horses have personalities, even more so than your family dog. Because they can do so much more, carry you through the woods on trails to places campers have never seen before. Our goal at Swift Nature Camp is to help children build this relationship while understanding basic horse care while learning how to ride.

When most folks think of a science they think of school and all those books and studying. However, Swift Nature Camp is all about having Fun while helps children to learn how and why to become good stewards of the environment. It is through direct experience and hands on activities that we inspire kids to be environmentally conscious when they return home. Our first goal is to be a kids summer camp but it is so much more,, it’s our dedication to the environment. Swift Nature Camp is fun with a purpose.

No children’s book series has caught the imagination quite like Harry Potter. The stories have launched an industry in merchandise, games and movies. Fans like to see where the films were shot and several Harry Potter Tours organise guided visits to locations where memorable scenes from the books were brought to the screen. Many famous British landmarks and institutions have played a part in the filming. The challenge for the filmmakers was to find the right location to stand in for the fictitious places of the wizard world.

The British Tours Company runs various tours, offering different durations and permutations. The Oxford and Gloucester Tour takes in some splendid sights and is an interesting history lesson. The prestigious Oxford University was used for many scenes at Hogwarts School, its magnificent architecture of cloisters and archways being perfect for the job. Staircases in the University were featured along with the Great Hall, which was the inspiration for Hogwart’s Dining Room. The University Library served as Hogwart’s Hospital Infirmary.

The Gloucester part of the Harry Potter Tour includes the wonderful Norman Cathedral, which was used in scenes involving ghosts and talking portraits in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, the first in the series. The Moaning Myrtle scenes in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and scenes from Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince were also shot in Gloucester Cathedral.

London can also be added to the itinerary, which gives the opportunity of standing on the very platform at Kings Cross railway station that represented Platform 9 3/4 in the movies. In Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Westminster Tube Station is the location for the Ministry of Magic. The Harry Potter Tour also goes to the Victorian built Leadenhall Market, where Harry and Hagrid made their way to the Leaky Cauldron pub. The itinerary also includes London Zoo, where Harry had his encounter with the snake in the first film. There is an alternative trip to the British Museum to see the Lewis Chessman display. This was the chess set that was copied for Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Other London tourist attractions can be added, such as Piccadilly Circus, the Tower of London, Buckingham Palace, St.Paul’s Cathedral, Trafalgar Square and the Houses of Parliament.

The London Taxi Tours are a comfortable way of exploring the capital with different themes. The driver guides give informative tours for James Bond, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, the Monopoly Board Game, and Harry Potter Tours. There is a separate tour for Lacock village and Abbey, the location for scenes in the first two films. The beautiful Abbey dates from 1232 and the medieval cloisters, monastic rooms, classrooms and grassed courtyard can all be seen on screen. The village is 16th century and is the location for Privet Drive, home of the Dursley family. The village is also used for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and for Professor Slughorn’s house. London and Oxford can be added to this Harry Potter Tour.

They are saying that a society or civilization moves forward fastest when it’s got a variety of concepts and inventions flowing from plenty of different self-assembled cultural groups, maybe semi-self-segregated, but working in the full with lots of liberty. Okay, if you accept with this point of view, then keep reading, if not, I’m going to introduce a philosophical thought and interesting idea, which you may not agree with or it’ll offend you. Each generation keeps with them lots of these experiences which help shape their future observations, selections and lifestyles. Thus , if humans could live for one thousand years average life outlook due to revolutionary findings in gene therapy, cell rejuvenation and vibrational medication, we’d soon find that we might have the best of all worlds. The processor is an Intel Atom with a frequency of 1.6 Ghz. The operating interfaces compatible with Dell include Ubuntu Linux and OS Windows XP. So , the client can choose both the pattern and the color of the PC in order to match private taste. Dell notebook makers have started cooperating with Mike Ming, a Brooklyn artist, owner of 2 plants the Sea Sky and Bunch o Surfers and who had the idea of infusing a favored mini computer with a hint of energy, chic complexity and psychedelic lines. The first Mike Ming design will not wear off in time preserving the quality inlaid design and colours.

To conclude, the acquisition of a Dell notebook should involve a research into the applications it might serve for.

However, If compared to the designs in the XPS series, the Inspiron Dell notebook does not have the same quality standard performance, yet, there remains room for improvement.

Shoveling Snow in the Modern World

While the world continues to move forward, we find ourselves relying less and less on our physical skill. Our fast-moving lifestyles, in a bizarre irony, cause us to not move at all. We instead sit on our desk jobs for hours, and our physical capabilities slowly become lackluster.

As this type of lifestyle slowly becomes the standard for the majority, we begin to loathe the physical tasks more and more. However, we find that we simply cannot be rid of some physical tasks, such as the task of shoveling the snow when winter comes around.

If you are from one of the colder climates, then you will most likely have experienced the displeasure of shoveling snow. Those who are unused to physical tasks find this activity most frustrating. But it cannot be ignored, as studies have shown that shoveling snow is an excellent exercise. Go through thirty minutes of this each day, and you will stay healthy.

Health is extremely important for us to be aware of in this day and age. Our work stunts our muscle growth, and activities like snow shoveling will at least keep it used. However, suddenly exerting physical strain may do the exact opposite; you may injure your back, or even suffer a heart attack.

Keep yourself away from these troubles by keeping things at a leisurely pace. Do not try to do it too fast; exercise for a few minutes before beginning the actual heavy work. And while shoveling, keep your back straight. Bend your knees instead when scooping snow.

Lastly, I must ask you to resist the urge to do things the easy way. Do not buy mechanical snow blowers! They may seem like a good idea, but, like the majority of modern life, it does you no good physically. If you must insist on using the new innovations of our age, instead look for snow shovels whose design has been improved on by technology. it will make the whole exercise simpler and safer; all for reduced cost.

Ways we can reduce stress

You can’t hide from stress. It is in our daily routines. We encounter it everywhere. It is at work, home and in our cars. If we do not learn to deal with it in a positive manner our mind, body and souls can adversely be touched. Lets talk about ways we can reduce stress in our lives.

Stress is something we will all have to deal with from time to time. We need to recognize that it is not avoidable and we must cope in a positive manner. We need to identify how we deal with it and make needed changes. We need to use the energy it takes to stress out on something worth while and learn to relax.

We should try to avoid doom, gloom and sad talk. We get into the habit of talking about all the bad stuff we see on the news and such and it is just not healthy for us. You will always be able to find people to pity you or match your sad and gloomy story, but that is so destructive to ourselves and just adds to daily stress.

This brings us to stress thoughts or mind garbage as I like to refer to it. We can put so much energy into the should a, could a, would a theory’s. We can manipulate our minds to think things are worse then they are. Cut these thoughts off as soon as they start. They are usually unfounded thoughts anyways.

Everyone you know has dealt with stress. If you have a hard time dealing look at your friends and family that have dealt in a good way. Use their techniques and try them for yourselves. Sometimes we learn the best things from others. Sometimes they have dealt with more stress then we every have.

One very popular way to deal is breathing techniques. When stress cause us to be anxious or panicked we can use a simple breathing technique to calm ourselves. Simply take slow long breathes in and out until we start to feel more relaxed.

We all have some things that trigger stress for us, maybe road rage or screaming kids. Identify your triggers and tune into ways to deflect them. Again, we can not avoid them, we must learn ways to deal. Ways that are positive by the way, we can not rear end them just to feel better.

Last but not least, take care of yourself. Be sure to get plenty of sleep and rest. Eat healthy foods and get some exercise. Enjoy lives little pleasures, so often we ignore them. Stop to smell the roses. Be good to your body and yourself and your body will thank you for it!

How can We Prevent Road Accidents from Happening

February 26th, 2009

by A Nutt

There is no doubt about it; there are far too many accidents on the road today. Even if you are the most careful and contentious driver on the road there is still a chance that someone will slam into your car causing you, at the very least, some property damage and maybe something far worse.

There is nothing you can do that will guarantee you a constantly safe and totally accident free driving experience, but there are several things that travelers can do to help minimize the amount of accidents that occur on the road every day.

Obey the Traffic Laws The state makes prospective drivers pass a test before they get behind the wheel for a reason, automobiles can be very dangerous if they aren’t operated properly and according to the laws of the road. Speed limits, traffic signs and all other traffic signals should be closely adhered to every single time someone gets behind the wheel, traffic laws are put in place to protect all of the travelers who are sharing space on the road. Following traffic signals isn’t an option, those drivers that treat it as such are usually the ones you see pulled over to the side of the road being handed a violation by officers or off the side of the road due to being involved in an accident after that required roadside assistance.

Pay Attention to the Road and Your Surroundings at all times There can be plenty of things going on in traffic all around you, so it’s crucial that you pay attention to everything going on around you. Driving should be your only focus while behind the wheel. Too many travelers use there commute to eat their breakfasts, drink their coffees, apply their make up and change their outfits and these are often the drivers that are involved in accidents. If you don’t have time to eat, change or apply your make up before you get in the car, it’s probably a good idea to start getting up earlier. Those five extra minutes of sleep won’t help you replace your totaled automobile or help with your rehabilitation following an accident.

Put Down the Cell Phone Our cell phones now are a huge survival tool, they let us make calls, receive and send text messages and e-mails, surf the internet and get directions, watch videos, take pictures and listen to music, among other things, but one place they don’t belong is in your hand while you’re behind the wheel. You simply can’t concentrate on the road and the things going on around you while you’re typing a text message or reading an e-mail. There are laws against using your cell phone while driving in many states now, and those laws are just as important to follow as all of the other laws on the road, you can read your e-mails and send your texts when you get to your destination, but doing so while your driving may not let you get to your destination at all.

Don’t Drive under the Influence Driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol is a major cause of accidents and automobile related deaths. An easy way to prevent this is to not drive while you are under the influence, if you have to drink, and then find another way to get home. Have a sober friend drive you, take a cab or spend the night where you are, but never get behind the wheel after you’ve been drinking.

Many of the accidents that occur are preventable, if people would just pay attention and abide by the laws of the road. By staying aware of your surroundings you can help to minimize the chances that you’ll be involved in an accident, but if you choose to drink and drive or play with your cell phone while you’re driving then you are setting yourself up to become a statistic.

If you want to learn Spanish, you don’t have to spend an extensive amount of time searching for Spanish language schooling. Courses are available worldwide and online.

Learning dialects and other involved aspects of the Spanish language seems difficult at first. But as you make your way through your introductory courses, you will find it is much easier than you expected.

If you are interested in good Spanish language lessons, then there are indeed a number of different places that you could turn.

The Hispanic language has been an international language for a very long time so not only are there top class CD and audio study aids for you to use, there are also vocabulary courses priced very reasonably that allow you to get a head start on your Spanish language schooling.

Depending on why you want to learn Spanish and what type of Spanish you want to know, you can find appropriate learning aids.

For people who travel internationally, it is often important to be able to communicate and hold basic conversations with local Spanish speakers. These people need conversational Spanish schooling.

Audio CD devices have traditionally been the best way to learn Spanish conversationally because all you have to do is listen to the different phrases that the CD spouts off and repeat them to yourself until you get to the point where you will be able to think of the phrase and its meaning.

Using language CDs won’t help you much with the ins and outs of the language, but it will help you achieve a level of fluency that is suitable for conversation. This is a good way to learn basic ways to communicate with Spanish speakers.

Bringing your knowledge of Spanish beyond a simple conversational level requires that you access some more advanced Spanish language schooling tools and resources.

There are so many Spanish language education courses offered, and so many ways to access material, that you should easily be able to find a teacher’s packet to help you learn.

What that packet will give you is a long list of exercises that will help your language comprehension in addition to giving you the answers to those exercises so that you will be able to check your progress as time goes on.

There are of course more advanced Spanish lessons available on the internet like the popular Pimsleur Spanish courses.

If you are interested in learning Spanish, do an internet search for “Spanish language training” or “courses in conversational (or advanced) Spanish.” Your results will include numerous viable choices that will help you attain your Spanish language goals.

The Feet Feel Too

by James Gilbert Pynn

Realizing I may sound like a total New Age tool, I feel I have to argue for something called zone therapy, otherwise known as reflexology. I know what youre thinking: James, you’ve done it again. Yes, perhaps I have. But so what? This ancient therapy does not require the use of any special crystals or ethereal pan flute music. All that’s required is a semi-open mind and your bare hands and feet.

Reflexology is more than just a hand or foot massage, even though it is, well, a hand or foot massage. It’s all in the intention. A trained reflexologist knows which points on your hands and feet (and sometimes ears) correspond to which organs, joints, or bodily functions. For instance, the hollow of the foot is said to correspond to your stomach. Have a muscle cramp? Have that part of your foot rubbed.

This may sound like a pitch for snake oil, but the respected journal, Neuroscience Letters, claims that there is indeed a neural link between the brain and the foot. Of course, I would say, how else are we able to walk? Thanks, I’ll be here all week! But seriously, folks, there is something to be said for this form of therapy. I know because it worked for me. My chronic headaches, which bordered on migraines, have abated since I started getting my hands rubbed.

Weird, sure. Creepy, maybe. But the bottom line is it works for me. It could work for you. It’s like Tai Chi — some people swear they can feel the chi running through their bodies. Other people punch people like that in the stomach and laugh. It’s hard to say and I do sympathize with those of you who are creeped out by other people touching their hands and feet.

To that end, I recommend a handy, dandy foot massager. You can find models that are electric (and hence vibrating) or wooden (and do nothing but get mashed into your soft spots). The vibrating ones get the job done and even come with warm water jets and DVD players. I’m just kidding about the DVD players. Either way, it’s something that may work for some people out there, and if something works, why not give a try?
